Dear Team,

Could we manage browser extensions (including installation and execution) using NGSWG?

Best Regards,

Shubham

You can block the download of extensions from the Chrome Web Store. here is a sample policy.

You can also build a regex URL list with specific extensions you want to prevent from being access/installed. Example:

chrome\.google\.com\/.*\/lgjdgmdbfhobkdbcjnpnlmhnplnidkkp
chrome\.google\.com\/.*\/lklmhefoneonjalpjcnhaidnodopinib
chrome\.google\.com\/.*\/ciifcakemmcbbdpmljdohdmbodagmela
...etc

Hi ejang and Netskope team,

Thanks for the above information to block chrome extensions but I want to block Microsoft edge, Firefox extension/ addons and as I can see there is no predefined cloud app for edge and Firefox like chrome web store.

Can you please help me on this.

Thanks & Regards,

Akil Khan

Good morning,

While it is possible for us to block the initial installation and navigation to the store, in general these controls are better served in enterprise environments by using GPOs and device management.  All major browsers support central management of plugins and extensions:

Edge:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-manage-extensions-policies

Firefox:
https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates/

Chrome:

Hi sshiflett, Thanks for your suggestion. its highly appreciated but In addition to blocking extensions on the specified browsers, we would like to implement exceptions for certain business-critical extensions, for example Endpoint Verification and some auto refresh extension, which we want to allow in our environment so please let me know is it possible to fulfil this requirement by using GPOs otherwise please let me know how can we do it by using Netskope NGSWG or CASB.

Please let me know if you require any other information from my side.

Thanks & Regards,

Akil Khan
