Block DeepL website while allowing the DeepL browser extension

Netskope SWG license is required
Context
As AI continues evolving, it is becoming increasingly used in different applications, DeepL is an AI based translation application widely used that depending on the use cases and security requirements of each company, could represent a security risk
In this knowledge base article, we'll explore Netskope's capabilities to enforce security to this specific application.
Do You Know?
DeepL can be used in two ways:
- Web application: Provides translation capabilities of: text, documents, websites, and AI writing
- Browser extension: Provides translation capabilities of: website text, full website, and AI writing. All in real-time, directly on the website
Configuration
- Create a URL list that includes:
Path - Netskope Tenant UI >>> Policies >>> URL List >>> New URL list
- Create a custom web category, include the just created URL list:
Path - Netskope Tenant UI >>> Policies >>> Custom categories >>> New category
- Create a real-time policy that allows the access to the extension:
Path - Netskope Tenant UI >>> Policies >>> Real-time Protection >>> New Policy
- To block the web access to DeepL, create a second real-time policy that block the access to the translation web category.
Path - Netskope Tenant UI >>> Policies >>> Real-time Protection >>> New Policy
- Make sure you place it below the preceding policy:
