I have a regex URL list that blocks ai mode in Chrome but I cannot get the AI Mode button in the search bar to block or disable. I reached out to our CSM who said they in turned reached out the the product team. It sounds like this is in the works already but we want to block before waiting for their update. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this? I identified where the element is within Developer Tools but of course changing that from false to true is temporary. Injection JavaScript is beyond my scope. Looking for any help anyone might have. Thank you.
This can be handled with RexEx URL list:
AI Mode
.*.google.com.*udm\=50.*
AI Overview (can be utilized as AI gemini)
.*google.com/async/folsrch.*
Thank you Nykieladrian, however, I’ve tried the udm\=50 without success. I’ve read where apparently a double back slash is needed. Tried that too w/o success. I’ve reached out to our CSM who indicated this is something Netskope is working on so - future enhancement it seems.
I’ve since learned that to truly disable the ai mode button, you have to change the Chrome configuration...I’m not in a position to do that right now. I read that udm\=14 is the standard search within Chrome but I’m not sure we want to do that either.
I do appreciate your help.
If you use both of the above RegEx es in URL list it WILL block it from working.
You still might see some pre-vetted AI overview pages as google hardcoded some of them to save cost. but all non-standard user prompts will be blocked. I just tested it and it works fine
I may have misunderstood previous search results because I thought .*google.com/async/folsrch.* blocked AI overview search results. I will try it and post results shortly.
Can you provide an example of a non-standard prompt you tested with? I didn’t know of any so I searched CoPilot. All appears to still be working. I added the two URLs to an AI regex URL list, saved the changes, cleared my browser cache and made sure the changes I saved actually saved. I can still click the button to search and I still receive search results.
