Is there documentation that talks about and establishes differences between the Data plane, Management plane, and localization zone?

I'd like to know what each function is.

@xavierrodriguez

I’m not sure if we have anything off hand but high level:

  • Management Plane - a distinct Netskope hosted data center responsible the management of your policies, objects, logs, and other management tasks.  The WebUI is hosted here along with the REST API, SMTP Proxy, and some other functions.
  • Data Plane(s) - distinct full compute locations responsible for onboarding traffic using client, explicit proxy, IPSEC, GRE, and other steering methods.  These are responsible for processing traffic in real time for Netskope security services.  A discussion on the differences between Data Planes and Management Planes can be found at https://www.netskope.com/blog/explaining-the-importance-of-netskopes-recent-expansion-of-newedge-in-the-uk
  • Localization Zones - a subset of data plane functionality, localization zones allow us to egress traffic from existing data centers based on where the user or device connected to Netskope from.   This allows for content localization especially in cases where multiple countries are geographically close together or where data planes don’t exist.    A deeper explanation of localization zones can be found at https://docs.netskope.com/en/security-cloud-platform-configuration/#localization-zones-1
