Hello enthusiasts,

I have been configuring the device classification rule for iOS devices with criteria “REQUIRE PASSCODE” only. Although I have removed the passwords in test device (iPad) the Netskope found to be unable to detect the device as “unmanaged” hence the Realtime policy I configured against the “unmanaged devices” did not work as expected.

I would request all the folks who have expertise in this matter to help me with your valuable guidance to troubleshoot and fix this. Meanwhile I am testing all the possible scenarios to fix this.

Regards,

Saifin Thomas

HI @saifinthomas

Sorry for the late response, but did you get a chance to review the current documentation available on the same topic here: https://docs.netskope.com/en/device-classification-for-ios/

Here are some potential causes and suggestions:

  1. Netskope Agent : Ensure that the Netskope agent is installed and configured correctly on the test iPad. The agent plays a crucial role in providing device information to Netskope for classification purposes.
  2. Realtime Policy Configuration : Double-check the Realtime policy configuration for unmanaged devices to ensure it's correctly set up and targeting the correct criteria.

To troubleshoot further:

  1. Verify the iPad's management state using Apple's Device Information feature or your MDM solution (if applicable).
  2. Check the Netskope agent logs on the test iPad to see if there are any errors or issues that could be preventing device classification.
  3. Try reconfiguring the device classification rule to include other criteria, such as "DEVICE MANAGEMENT" or "PASSCODE POLICY", to see if it affects the classification outcome.

If none of these help, I recommend reaching out to Netskope support for further assistance and guidance. Team will help you investigate the specific cause of the problem and provide you solution.
