Hi there,

When an app shows as "Unknown" in the Netskope CCI (Cloud Confidence Index), it simply means the app hasn't been verified by the Netskope security research team yet. Until a risk score is assigned, allowing it carries a "blind spot" risk.

Here are a few steps I recommend taking:

1. The first step is to submit a research request directly through the Netskope tenant.

  • Go to Cloud Confidence Index, search for the app, click the "Contact” > “Request to update app information” button.

  • The Netskope team usually analyzes the app’s security posture (data encryption, certifications, privacy policy) and updates the score within a few business days.

2. Promote Sanctioned Alternatives If your organization already pays for an enterprise version of DeepL, Google Translate, or Microsoft Translator, it is much safer to redirect users to those "Sanctioned" apps which already have high CCI scores and guaranteed data protection.

  • Create a policy with a user alert (coaching) that triggers when a user accesses "Unknown" translation tools.

  • The pop-up warns the user: "This app is currently under security review. Please use sanctioned app (you will be redirected soon)"

Hope this helps!
